Difficult to know where to start describing this one as I don't want you to think it is anything less than superbly charming!!
So, we've gone out of Souillac and driven down winding country lanes for about 10 minutes and we arrive in this quiet, peaceful village ... Dominating the view is the Chateau situated on the hill. We suddenly came across the cottage. Yes, it has one of those little white double cottage like gates, with a small flowery garden to the front and ivy growing all over the front of the property. First impressions - a deep sigh, lovely!
You walk into this very old stone built cottage and realize that it has been well loved and lived in. It has a really nice feel about it. The old, original stone fireplace has a huge presence in the room which of course it should have! Then the kitchen... updated and modern enough although in keeping with the cottage. A nice large kitchen it is too measuring 25m2 and room enough to have a large family dining table.
There are three bedrooms in total. All quirky - you know, slightly wonky walls and old in-built cupboards in the walls. In fact all the character and charm of the house has been retained.. Happy to say though that there are not any really low beams. (I'm quite tall and my head often suffers in cottages!) The two bathrooms are modern and perfect.
And then... you step out into the back garden!! Wow! A huge, terraced area greets you. A rather sophisticated space actually. In the distance, the Chateau overlooks you. I could imagine dining here ....
Stepping out a little further into the garden, (which has been impeccably kept) there are lots of lovely mature trees and shrubs around as you wander over to the swimming pool. Again, the chateau provides the most incredible backdrop - oh as does the view over the river Dordogne at the bottom of the garden!!
My view: Perfect!!!
