Oh wow! What a very pleasurable time I had in visiting this property. A gorgeous little cottage with outbuildings nestled in the hills just 10 minutes from Domme and 15 minutes from Sarlat in the Dordogne.
Driving through the nearest village of Cenac (which has all small commerce, bar and restaurants), you go on up through the trees and turn into a little lane to the property. I could tell from the minute we arrived that I was going to like this one. The charm of the place hits you as soon as you see it! It looks like this could be something from out of a glossy country magazine. Even the veg patch, with it's withered plants (as it's winter) and garden fork left semi buried on an angle seemed to be so perfectly staged as if for a photo shoot for the next publication of country homes!

Lets start with the cottage. Recently completely renovated to a very high standard and with quality materials very much in keeping with the age of the property. Exposed stone and beams in all of the rooms.
The very most has been made of the original old kitchen, quaint and quirky and it has been well fitted. What I liked the most is that there are windows over the work surface with views over that garden! The door to outside leads directly onto a covered terrace area - just so practical and easy for dining or to even enjoy a glass of wine or two.
Walking through into the lounge... oh you feel you are so at home! The room seems filled with furniture and country style objects, together with some of the lovely old features of the cottage such as the old stone sink that has been nicely incorporated into the decor it just all adds to the lovely warm feeling you get - enhanced by the lovely old style wood burning stove that was pumping out constant heat which was so welcome on the chilly day we visited.
Next you go through into what the present owners have as another reception room/office. Wow, a fantastic, old original Cantou fireplace stares you in the face and dominates the room with another wood burning stove that is gently ticking over. The stairs in the corner lead to upstairs. At this point I try to start to put on my job hat and not my 'I think I could live here' hat on!! I must try to see where the negatives are to be objective - but there are not any at all! The place has been perfectly restored and is perfectly kept. Not a single speck of dust let alone a cobweb!
Upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms. Once again, superbly finished. The old exposed beams add a touch of a romantic feel..... with each bedroom there is an en-suite bathroom again in pristine condition.
sigh....
Back to the outside and we go into the little outbuilding. With two little rooms this would make a great little studio for someone, an office, or you could convert it into a little maison d'amis for guests...
The barn is good and solid. 43m².
The garden is wonderful. Three hectares in total with about one of those hectares being wooded. There are large parts of grassland. It's all been very well kept.
Above all, you are assured of a very tranquil setting.
My view: A perfect little place in a perfect setting!
